Join celebrity chefs, seafood producers, and educators for a fun-filled day of cooking demonstrations, tasting stations, live entertainment, and an oceanside craft beer and wine garden. Don’t miss the always popular Fanny Bay Oyster Shucking Championship and Ocean Wise Chowder Challenge.

Celebrity Chef Demos
Celebrity Chef Nathan Fong will be hosting the Comox By The Sea seafood demonstrations, as well as showcasing his own skills. Demonstrations and recipes are provided by the following Vancouver Chefs: Pino Posteraro from Cioppino’s Mediterranean Grill; Angus An from Maenam; Taryn Wa from Savoury Chef Foods; and Chris Whittaker from Forage.

Shellfish and Seafood Tasting Booths
Sample the best of British Columbia’s award winning shellfish and seafood producers and restaurants. Stay tuned for a complete list of tasting booths!

Fanny Bay Oysters Shucking Championship
International shucking sensation and Guinness Book of World Records holder, Shucker Paddy, will be emceeing the Fanny Bay Oysters Shucking Championship and providing interactive demonstrations throughout the day. The winning shucker will be awarded a trip to the Prince Edward Island Shellfish Festival to compete in the Raspberry Point International Oyster Shucking Championship!

Oceanwise Chowder Challenge
Cheer on Chefs as they compete for the title of ‘Best Chowder’. Public tastings provided. The winning participant will be awarded a trip to Vancouver to compete in the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise Chowder Chowdown!

Oceanside Beer & Wine Garden
Beer provided by Vancouver Island Brewing and wine provided by the BC Wine Institute.

Getting here

  • Driving: A FREE Park and Ride service is available from Brooklyn Elementary School (1290 Guthrie Rd) to the event, proudly being provided by
  • Ambassador Shuttle. Two vans will run in a continual loop — longest wait should be 5-10 minutes; look for the signs at Brooklyn. Riders are not allowed to leave dogs in their vehicles at the Park and Ride location.
  • Cyclists: There will be a bike lock-up provided by Comox Valley Cycle Coalition by donation as you enter the front of the Filberg grounds.
  • There is no parking on the event site and very limited parking in the surrounding area — please plan accordingly.

Purchasing Food, Beer and Wine Tickets

  • Food tasting tickets are $1 each (tastings range from $1 – $6)
  • There will be at least four Food Ticket Sales Stations on site. Purchase food tickets online in advance, and get to your tastings quicker!
  • Beer and Wine tickets are available at the Oceanside Beer and Wine Garden on the day of the event.
  • The event is a CASH ONLY event. There will be an ATM onsite.

No dogs are permitted on the grounds, as per the Filberg Heritage Lodge and Park regulations.
